Other local leapers include Bob Roehrich, of Trumbull, who turns 80 today. Roehrich owns City Line Florist in Trumbull and is proud of his unusual birthday. "It's sort of a fun thing," he said. "There's very few of my friends who don't know when my birthday is."
Like most people, Roehrich celebrates his non-leap birthdays on Feb. 28. On those rare occasions when he does have an authentic birthday "the family always tried to make it a little more special."
This year is no exception. Roehrich is awaiting knee surgery and, until then, he's using a wheelchair, and doesn't feel like going out to celebrate. Thus, his family is coming to him. A group of about 20 people, including three children and nine grandchildren, is expected to come to honor his special day.
