He’s “a wonderful designer” (according to his own staff). And, he’s a bold and savvy businessman. One of the first florists in the county to install a computerized point-of-sale system (RTI, back in the 1980s); Bob Roehrich is today reaping the rewards of that foresight. He has built City Line Florist in Trumbull, Connecticut, into one of the state’s top florists and indeed, one of Teleflora’s top 100.
He’s also been active in service to both the floral industry and his local community. A former president of Teleflora’s Connecticut Unit, he has been very much engaged as a member of the Bridgeport Florists Association, and belongs to the Masons and Shriners.
All fitting reasons why Bob, after 60-plus years in the floral industry, was honored last month by the Connecticut Florists Association with its 2005 Connecticut Florist of the Year Award.
“He is universally respected and loved by his fellow florists in the greater Bridgeport area,” said CFA awards committee chair Sylvia Nichols AIFD. “He’s known as a clam, thoughtful, careful man.” Some 20 members of Bob’s family, many of whom work with him at the shop, were there to celebrate.
