June is the Month for Roses

rosesWhile there are reasons every month to send flowers to those you love, there are few months that are so overflowing with meaning regarding one specific type of flower. But in June, roses are the overwhelming favorite bloom – and there are many reasons to send this most iconic of flowers.

rosesTo begin with, roses are the official birth flower of June. So for all of you who have loved ones celebrating this month, the rose is your go-to choice! Whether you choose yellow to convey deep friendship or pink to express appreciation, the rose says it all. Not to mention, they come in a wide spectrum of colors, meaning that you can create your color palette.

rosesJune is also the month of weddings, and roses are the official flowers of these auspicious events. White are often chosen by the bride because they symbolize purity and innocence; what many people don’t realize is that in antiquity, white roses were representative of passion and romance. That honor has shifted over to red in contemporary society, however. Speaking of red roses, June 12 is also Red Rose Day – a day set aside to give acclaim to the traditional red rose. Across the country, gardeners, botanists, and florists will be celebrating this classic flower.

rosesWhen giving roses, consider adding in some additional bright summer flowers for a vibrant display – or even add seashells as a nod to all the summer fun on the way. There are many ways and many reasons to give the iconic flower this June, but only one place in Trumbull to get them – City Line Florist!
