Patriotic Bouquets and Designs

After the Civil War, grieving families looked for a way to honor those they had lost, and Decoration Day was established. It was celebrated unofficially for a century, until it was renamed and made an official U.S. holiday in 1971. Memorial Day gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect on the many sacrifices and contributions of those who have died in the commission of their military service, from the 1860’s right up to modern day. Whether you wish to decorate a grave site or deliver a memorial bouquet to a loved one, the floral designers at City Line Florist are privileged to assist.

Did You Know? Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day are often confused. However Veteran’s Day is meant to honor all who have served, with an emphasis on thanking those still alive – and Memorial Day is meant to honor the memory of those who died.

Patriotic bouquets are appropriate to send to the spouse, parent, or sibling of a fallen soldier. The red, white and blue color palette is not only beautiful but meaningful and hold deep significance – red stands for courage and valor, white for purity and integrity, and blue for loyalty.

Arrangements can be more casual nature, as shown above with roses and carnations; or sophisticated and elegant, utilizing lilies, delphinium and hydrangea. These floral designs are appropriate for sending to someone’s home. patriotic bouquets

However, if you wish to adorn a grave or memorial site, you may wish to consider more “funeral-style” flowers – wreaths, crosses, urns, baskets or sprays that commemorate the pride and honor that these heroes exhibited.
