Weddings, Engagements and Anniversaries

There is nothing quite as romantic as a wedding, and so it makes sense that National Wedding Month should take place during what is arguably the most romantic month on the calendar. After all, February offers us Valentine’s Day! Because of the deep meaning of the holiday, it is a special day for brides and grooms, and statistically, we see a lot of activity around February 14th. But is that enough to make February a logical choice for being named the official month of weddings? Here at City Line Florist, we have the answer.

Did You Know? In the United States, 2.4 million weddings are performed every year, averaging 6,200 weddings per day! Of course, because most take place on weekends, the competition for the best venues and services can get intense.

We’ve established that Valentine’s Day inspires a lot of proposals. In fact, about 6 million couples get engaged each year. However, Christmas and New Year’s are still the most inspiring to would-be grooms, with more proposals happening over those holidays than any other time of the year.  According to the National Association of Bridal Consultants, it is the timing of all those engagements that drives the real reason behind February being National Wedding Month. Newly engaged couples tend to begin wedding planning in earnest in February, kicking off a wave of activity for vendors, hence the designation as “wedding month”.

February 14th is not only popular for engagements, but wedding ceremonies as well. Hopeless romantics don;t seem to mind if the day falls on a Tuesday, it remains one of the most sought after dates, especially for small weddings. Here is another interesting fact – another of the most popular dates for a wedding takes place on February 29, but only once every 4 years during leap year. It definitely will make an interesting story for the grandchildren!

All those weddings on Valentine’s Day can only mean one thing – lots of Valentine’s Day anniversaries! If you got married on February 14th, make sure to celebrate both occasions. We recommend a bouquet of roses and a bouquet of orchids! And if you are planning a Trumbull wedding this year, now is the time to call City Line Florist.
